"carpe diem, even if it kills me" -knox overstreet

oh hey, look at that! This is the first post that has a picture I haven't shot before :o
---
I'm currently reminiscing about the "Dead Poet's Society" movie way back when. Awesome film - Robert Sean Leonard, Ethan Hawke & Robin William.

This is one of the best scenes (about Literature) ever:
John Keating: Close your eyes, close your eyes! Close 'em! Now, describe what you see.
Todd Anderson: Uh, I-I close my eyes.
John Keating: Yes.
Todd Anderson: Uh, and this image floats beside me.
John Keating: A sweaty-toothed madman.
Todd Anderson: A sweaty-toothed madman with a stare that pounds my brain.
John Keating: Oh, that's *excellent*! Now, give him action - make him do something!
Todd Anderson: H-His hands reach out and choke me.
John Keating: That's it! Wonderful, wonderful!
Todd Anderson: And all the time he's mumbling.
John Keating: What's he mumbling?
Todd Anderson: Mumbling truth.
John Keating: Yeah, yes.
Todd Anderson: Truth like-like a blanket that always leaves your feet cold.
John Keating: [some of the class start to laugh] Forget them, forget them! Stay with the blanket. Tell me about that blanket!
Todd Anderson: Y-Y-You push it, stretch it, it'll never be enough. You kick at it, beat it, it'll never cover any of us. From the moment we enter crying t-to the moment we leave dying, it'll just cover your face as you wail and cry and scream.
[long pause then class applauds]
John Keating: Don't you forget this.

(derived from Japanese bokeaji ボケ味, "blur")
I am addicted to finding, buying & collecting records. Unfortuneately, I don't have a bokeh picture for yalls this Wednesday. Better luck next time. I really need to get started on my "lost keys" project. Blehhhh. I am in love with editing Chels' dance shots btw (in case you haven't noticed.)
---
Since I'm actually home relatively early from rehearsal, I'm going to attempt to be the good little student and get off of the internet, do all my day one & day two work, study/cram from my math test tomorrow, clean my room and put away my laundry. Of course, 70% of that list won't even happen. :) HBW!

wheel in the sky
happy valentine's/sad kids!

I am madly in love with photoshop cs4 and paint shop pro 8, i want to marry them. They are my life savers. So, as aforementioned, I went over to Chelsea's and we went to Arts Umbrella to take some shots of her in dance poses. The lighting there made my evening, can yall say silhouette? Haha, yay! I've already edited about 8 of the odd 80+ shots I took. Probably 1 out 5 shots will be discarded.

I didn't do much for Valentine's today. I was sooo exhausted from yesterday - was always on my feet, just stayed home after a meet and greet with the doc. Went out for lunch with the fam + lola at Shabusen on Granville... walked down Main St. and looking at the thrifty shops. OMG HOLD THE PHONE. On Main St. there's this awesome possum YMCA thrift store... obviously the only reason I go into thrift sores is mainly for the old ditched record people donate. You know where this is going... so for $6 ONLY I bought:
  • The Supremes - Sing, 1966
  • The Eagles - The Long Run, 1979
  • The Music For UNICEF Concert, 1979 (It's got artists like Earth, Wind & Fire, ABBA, The Bee Gees, Donna Summer etc.)
  • Donna Summer - On The Radio: Greatest Hits Vol I & II, 1975
  • The Eagles - One Of These Nights, 1975
When I was investigating these Eagles albums...err... records, I came across .....

a) An article about The Eagles' album The Long Run in The Vancouver Sun dated: SATURDAY FEBRUARY 23, 1980 !! I mean, wow what are the odds of that? The donator must've forgotten that the article was in there - or intentionally put it there in hopes of someone in the future (like me) finding it almost 29 years later. WOW is all I can say. *I'll take a picture/scan of the article later on when it's not half past eleven at night :)

b) In the Eagles' One Of These Nights record, I GOT THE ABSOLUTE BONUS OF ALL BONUSES!  Okay know for a fact that: the cost of this record by itself is only $2. OKAY? GOT IT? GOOD? I'm telling you this because along with the record the person who donated it (which will suck for them) that THERE WAS A MCFRIGGIN' BEATLES RECORD ALONG WITH IT!!! It's a record from the late 60's maybe even at the most 1971... but it's an Apple Record, yes, The Beatles' record label!! OMG I almost pissed in my pants when my dad discovered that there was an extra record in there!!! It was so hard for me to contain my excitement because my dad was trying to act all like nothing happened, and in hopes that when we checked out and paid for the stuff the staff wouldn't know that there's an extra BEATLES record in there :D :D :D :D

Okay, I'm super tired so I'll finish off here - plus I'm watching "The Holiday" on tv and the Variety Show of Hearts Telethon... hahaha. Let me know what you think of the picture!

dirty harry
Friday the 13th. [Dun dun duuuun!]
It was sort of unlucky for me today I guess. Went to school, went home, didn't attend school. I left right before homeroom started. My tummy started to hurt unusually. APPARENTLY, the last 3 days I've had what you may know commonly as: heartburn, which then turns into acid re-flux. Ugh, I felt horrible. And so I decided that I didn't want to spend the rest of the school day uncomfortable, and well... I highly doubt anyone wants to hear my gag and throw up in the washroom. And seriously - I thought only 40 year old fat old men who sits on their ass all day get heartburn, I'm still in denial that it is heartburn.

PROS & CONS TO MISSING SCHOOL TODAY:
PROS:
  • I missed my math test
  • I didn't have to pay for coming to school in non uniform
  • I didn't write the English version to the script for French, which I owe Tony. So.... yeah - don't tell him!
  • I finally got to see the new Hollister that opened up at Pacific Centre, only because my doctor's office is in Downtown. Which leads to that I got 2 new Superdry jackets today. I love them! My dad offered to buy the both of them because he found out that they're going to be discontinued at Sears.
CONS:
  •  I missed my math test
  • Upset stomach the entire day, very exhausted, so tired, back's hurting like a batch and I've got blisters on my feet :(
  • The sun was out, but when it came time for me to take pictures - it became cloudy. Darn.
When I got picked up from school, I went to PriceSmartFoods that just opened near my house to pick up some Tums.. or Rolaids... or Pepto Bismol... or something like that. Okay it was FOR SURE not Pepto Bismol, that stuff is nasty :\ I think it was Tums. Whatever it is, it was minty flavoured :) I funnier part was lining up to use the self serve check out counter. Seriously, when my dad and I went in - there was practically a wave of old Chinese people lining up at the cashiers, or attempting to use the self sever checkouts. It was so so so so ridiculously funny, and it was harder on me because I had the upset stomach. All these people were lining up with bags and bags of raw chicken, wtf? So my dad and I were lining up at the self serve check out counter, and then this old lady comes up to us and starts speaking to us in Chinese, showing us her save on card (those points cards) and still speaking in Chinese. After the person who was in front of us was done, the old lady cuts in front of us and "tries" to use the machine. My dad and I look at each other - and I'm wondering if we should attempt to tell her that she can't cut in line (which wouldn't accomplish anything) but then we just went to another empty machine and laughed our asses off walking to the car.

Went over to Granville Island tonight. I've been going there obsessively a lot lately. Los Angeles and I went to Arts Umbrella to test drive the photo shoot. Yes, I had done my first photo shoot :D :D HOLLA! It was pretty rockin' we could control the lights, play some music, move the bars and all that jazz. I got a good set of 80+ shots of her all in silhouette-esque theme positions. It was spectacular! .... I can't wait for the next shoot :)

*hint, hint I you guys need any photo shots, head shots, dance shots, etc. you know who to contact ;) *

It was a luckily unlucky day. Valentine's/S.A.D. tomorrow! HELLO FOUR DAY WEEKEND :)

happy singles appreciation day

For the record - I did not write that. But I found it inside a tunnel at the playground in my neighbourhood. It's cute.

Two more days until S. A. D. ! (or for those who have a significant other, valentine's)

unaccompanied minors
Can't say much about today. I've had a rough rough rough week that's for sure. I hate scene 5 - no, I hate the fact that I had to "not be me" on the spot. Son of a mother.

Saturday was pretty fun-ny. Went to school for about four hours - got pictures developed and posted them in the cafeteria (this is one of the posted one btw).

GRAMMY'S, hollaaa!! It totally blew my mind when:
1. Sir Paul McCartney + Foo Fighters + "I Saw Her Standing There" = that's just waacck! Sooo dopee

2. The Rap Pack feat. MIA (who was supposed to give birth today!)  Jay-Z, TI, Kanye, Lil Wayne... crazy

3. Jamie Foxx, Smokey Robinson, Ne-Yo and "Duke" Fakir (the last survivor of The Four Tops) singing a Four Tops medley to commemorate the others.... I cried, I really did cry.

Amazing!

burn after reading
Fort Langley, holla! Taken in the September/beginning of the school year time. It's really nice there, my type of thing. They've got tons of old vintage cars that looks like they're from the 50s/60s and there's even a 50s diner there too. Majority of the buildings, even the oh so small town hall (which is as big as the science wing and the gym combined together) are very... westerny :)

I am so brain dead from play rehearsal...stupid side effects.

i only love you only on wednesdays

Steveston warf, Richmond. It's so pretty when it's not sunny, yet, has enough light to walk outside. Very beautiful. It's a total kick in the pants though to walk around the warf during the "it's still snowing?" season we had recently, while hold a camera like a freezing idiot. Ironic because while I was frozen taking pictures, there were tourists taking pictures of me taking pictures. Makes sense? Bleh. Bleh. Bleh.

I must admit, if you really think about it, the light bulb is pretty humorous. No? ...Well maybe I've been drinking one too many hot chocolates lately. Mmmm, but they're soo soo soo good! $4 only! Plus the cheap shrimp we got down there, wow. Btw, I took this at 7:30 in the morning :)

PS HAPPY BOKEH WEDNESDAY! (HBW)

more like granville island, at night actually. i call this my "postcard" picture :) i had to stand out in the -3 degrees celsius cold, by the water to get a few 20 decent shots by the dock. i found it to look very beautiful live, but the cold was totally freezing my butt off. the bonus though, is that i got to enjoy my $4 ameretto flavoured hot chocolate! delicious :)

i gotta go back for another one soon.
